The rhizosphere effect on soil gross nitrogen mineralization: A meta-analysis

چکیده
Rhizosphere effects play crucial roles in determining soil carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) cycling. However, the rhizosphere effect on gross mineralization (Nmin) has not been quantitatively assessed global scale. Here we performed a meta-analysis of compiled data from 24 publications 37 species to synthesize Nmin its influencing factors. We found that significantly enhanced by 81% average. Such was higher woody than nonwoody species, ECM (ectomycorrhizal) associated AM (arbuscular mycorrhizal) species. Moreover, variations were correlated with those C mineralization, phenol oxidase activity root biomass rather other plant (growth form mycorrhizal association) climatic (mean annual temperature precipitation) These results support ‘microbial activation’ N mining’ hypotheses indicate coupling rhizosphere. Overall, these findings provide novel insights into among growth forms associations, improve our mechanistic understanding dynamics

Rhizosphere priming effects on soil carbon and nitrogen mineralization
Living roots and their rhizodeposits affect microbial activity and soil carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) mineralization. This so-called rhizosphere priming effect (RPE) has been increasingly recognized recently. However, the magnitude of the RPE and its driving mechanisms remain elusive. Here we investigated the RPE of two plant species (soybean and sunflower) grown in two soil types (a farm or a pr...
متن کاملRoot Influence on Nitrogen Mineralization and Nitrification in Avena barbata Rhizosphere Soil
Micro–N pool dilution was used to quantify rates of gross N mineralization, consumption, and nitrification in bulk soil and in soil within 2 mm of root sections of Avena barbata (slender wild oats), an annual grass common to California oak woodland-savannas. Rates of gross N mineralization in rhizosphere soil (9.2 mg N kgd) were about ten times higher than in bulk soil (1.0 mg N kgd). Total bac...
متن کاملRhizosphere priming effect: A meta-analysis
Rhizosphere priming is crucial for regulating soil carbon and nitrogen biogeochemical cycles. An appreciable number of studies have been conducted to quantify the rhizosphere priming effect (RPE), and have shown that the RPE is sensitive to changes of plant and soil conditions. These diverse results across individual studies offer us an opportunity to explore for potential general patterns and ...
متن کاملEffect of sawdust amendment on mineralization of organic nitrogen in a 2,4,5-trichlorophenol contaminated soil
Previous studies have demonstrated that the toxic effects of 2,4,5trichlorophenol (2,4,5-TCP) are greater in agricultural soils than in forest soils; therefore these effects appear to be influenced by the total C content and soil pH. Agricultural soils (usually low in organic C) contaminated with 2,4,5-TCP may be able to be remediated by the addition of organic waste products. To test this hypo...
